My debut cookbook, Veneto: Recipes from an Italian Country Kitchen (Guardian Faber) is out now.
The book is a collection of 100 recipes inspired by the cuisine of my home region of Veneto, Italy. My intention wasn’t to create a compendium of Venetian recipes as much as to share a piece of my heritage and cast some light on this too-often overseen part of Italy through its food. I hope you’ll enjoy the stories as well as the recipes.
I styled and photographed the entire book, mixing classic plated shots with photos of ingredients and landscapes. The clean page layout and eye-catching cover, on the other hand, are both by talented designer Anna Green.

Praise for Veneto
“Valeria Necchio writes with such heart about regional home cooking and the kind of food values that allow for both tradition and change. Veneto is as simple as it is inspirational, and I look forward to cooking from this beautiful new Italian cookbook.”
Alice Waters, Chef-Owner of Chez Panisse
“Veneto celebrates an unsung part of Italy’s vast food culture with a peek into generations-old family recipes and the right combination of old favourites and new flavours, all documented beautifully in photographs and words that take you right beside the writer to the Venetian countryside.”
Emiko Davies, Author of Florentine and Acquacotta
“Valeria lets you in on the region’s secrets and there is a beauty and sincerity to her writing that is quite rare. Refreshingly real and full of simple everyday pleasures that we can all share.”
Rachel Roddy, Author of Five Quarters and Two Kitchens
“Charming family stories are woven into each recipe, and Valeria’s evocative writing means you feel like you’re right there with her” – Jamie Magazine
